The Government has set out its aim that “the historic environment and its heritage assets should be conserved and enjoyed for the quality of life they bring to this and future generations”  in the recently published Planning Policy Statement 5: Planning for the Historic Environment.
This, together with the Government’s Statement on the Historic Environment for England 2010,is very much welcomed by HTF as we have long campaigned for recognition of the socio-economic value of heritage and we look forward to this becoming a major point of reference for planning and development in historic towns and cities.
