MPs challenge government on Portas Pilot spending

The Business, Innovation and Skills Committee has published a report which refers to the lack of information from the government on how much of the £2.3m allocated for the 27 Portas Pilots has been spent despite repeated requests for the information. The report also calls on the government to undertake a wholesale review of business rates and to consider whether retail taxes would be better linked to a company’s sales rather than the value of the property it occupies.
