Is the Green deal appropriate to older buildings?

A group including SPAB, IHBC, SPAB, the National Trust, the Victorian Society and TV architectural guru Kevin McCloud has written to Chris Huhne to voice their concerns on the Governments’ energy efficiency initiative. They express caution over a potential risk to human health and the fabric of old buildings through incorrect adaptation: “Inappropriate forms of insulation and the sealing up of interiors take little account of the fact that these buildings perform differently from modern ones and need to ‘breathe’. They are likely to require a different approach in particular with regard to the movement of moisture within them” warns the letter.
